I usually write an article on the weekend weather on a Friday but in light of the current forecast, I thought I would write a short one on what we 'might' expect to see over the next 24 hours.

At the moment, as I write, I am sitting in my house in Beeston and it is starting to snow. It is rather patchy, more sleet than snow and it is not showing any signs of sticking. However, this stuff can trick us and can cover our world in white in minutes.

The overwhelming forecast is that the snow will continue throughout the evening and will be heavy at times. This could give us up to 8cm of snow in places.  It will start to clear but will remain icy with a minimum temperature of -3c. Friday will be a cold but mainly dry day.

Keep your eye on the weather reports and if you are heading out later take care on the roads. Check out the travel updates on the BBC website for more information travelnews">www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews
